Johnston County: May 4, 2007

On May 3rd, USERL received a call from a concerned person regarding a horse. They had advertised looking for a companion horse to buddy with a senior horse of their own. Someone answering their ad had a horse that they were interested in. Upon visiting the horse, however, it was clear the mare was severely malnourished. They convinced the owner to give her to them (rather than the $300 she was asking for her). However, they could not afford to rehab her and were concerned for the other animals on the farm. The mare, now named "Charlotte", was donated to USERL. She is a beautiful 23 year old Saddlebred mare and is doing well in quarantine.

The property upon which she came from is under investigation.
